Discipling God's People from Vision to Involvement

Gateway Center Board of Directors
Ken Shirkey is the founder and director of GCWM and the president of the Board of Directors. With 17 years of experience in mission mobiliazation and education, Ken has a passion to see God’s people empowered for mission to un-reached peoples. He was ordained into ministry in 1990 and brings a background of government administration, having served the Maine Department of Environmental Protection as chief of the administration of the Municipal Services Division.

Martha Shirkey
is the GCWM director of education. She has an extensive administrative background in education. She was the principal of New Haven Elementary in Union, Kentucky. She holds three Kentucky certifications: Teacher Grades 1 to 8; Instructional Leadership Principal Certification Grades K to 12; and Superintendent Certification. She served as an advisor for the Coordinator training for the Perspectives Study Program on Educational Issues for Mission Education.

Nancy McCue is an ordained deacon in the Anglican Mission in America. Because of the close ties of her church with Rwanda, she spent almost three years coordinating the HIV/AIDS program in the Anglican Diocese of Kibungo. While living in the small town of Kibungo, she became aware of the great health needs of the people and the need for small business support. The former has led to a partnership by her hometown of Fulton, Missouri, with Kibungo with the first project being the building of a Health Clinic in a rural area. And the latter has led to an advocacy for teaching successful business practices and now to the Gateway Center’s mentoring/sponsorship program.

Rich Bersett is the pastor of Metro East Christian Fellowship of O’Fallon, Illinois. Rich has guided Metro East in mission for 14 years with mission outreaches to Niger, Brazil, and the Ukraine. Metro East has been highly involved with GCWM for many years.

Jerry Wiedewitsch is the president of LaNatSa Consulting, Inc. of Port Charlotte, Florida. The company provides senior program management and technical support services to Department of Defense services and agencies. Jerry has been involved with the work of the Gateway Center since it began. He has a huge heart for the Kingdom of God and considers this assignment to be a way to increase his involvement in mission.
