You Are Part of the Good News

In Haiti  Two weeks ago we met with 42 of the leading pastors gathered together for the Gateway Center’s Strategic Intercession Training.  They came to testify of what God did as a result of the Gateway training in April of 2009 and to plan how they will work together in the days ahead to establish the Kingdom of God in Haiti.  Here are some reports:

We were going to do a water baptism in the creek near our church.  When we went down, the voodoo priest came and told us that we could not use this water, that he had put a spirit into the water, and it now belonged to them (the voodoo believers).  We argued that the stream was Haitian and belonged to everyone in Haiti and we were going to proceed, which we did.  The voodoo priest started screaming at us and cursing us.  As we entered the water, the voodoo priest also sat down at the edge of the water with his feet in the stream.  He told us that his was going to send a snake to bite and kill those in the water.  He continued to curse us.  All of the sudden he fell face down into the water.  He was pulled out and died soon after.  To our great God all praise and glory!- Pastor from Grand Anse Department of Haiti

Our town is known as a center for the Voodoo celebration of Rah Rah (Mardi Gras). We have a band that was a central part of the Rah Rah celebration, and people would come from all over to hear them.  After our session last year we began to get people in churches praying for our town; that God would rid us of the dark forces, especially at Rah Rah.  As we prayed one of the band members got saved.  He joined the church and began to pray for the other band members.  Before Rah Rah this year all of the band members were saved and they refused to play.  The Rah Rah celebration was very poor and few people celebrated as the spirit of God was moving.
It was reported that a voodoo priest in a neighboring town was walking along the road and saw a demon visually.  When he asked the demon was what he was doing there, the demon replied that he was the demon over our town. He could no longer live there because the Christians were praying so he had come to live in the neighboring village.– Pastor in Northeast Haiti

The Spirit of the Lord filled the air as the pastors and leaders ministered to each other and began to see a “New Haiti” with eyes of faith.  The words of the Lord’s prayer, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done ON EARTH as it is in heaven” began to take on life and build hope for establishing Haiti as a nation as God sees it.  Through the word, intercession, and the power of the Holy Spirit people are walking into churches asking to be saved.  The President of Haiti cancelled Rah Rah this year and asked instead for three days of prayer and fasting for those who died in the earthquake.  Over a million people came out in Port Au Prince and cried out for the Lord to heal their nation.  Over three thousand came to know the Lord; one hundred were Voodoo priests. Our host said it was happening all over Haiti. To God be the Glory!
