Discipling God's People from Vision to Involvement
Haiti, A New Beginning
“Your mission is accomplished. We will take it now.”Those are the words of our host in Haiti at the conclusion of the Warrior Summit conference in August. It was not that we had ended our ministry in Haiti, but an acknowledgement that all of what the Lord had sent us to do on this trip had been accomplished.
One thing the Lord had instructed us to do was blow the shofar to summon the warriors. The shofar was used in ancient Israel not only to summon or sound the alarm for war, but to proclaim the beginning of Rosh Hashanna. This was a time of cleansing repentance which brought freedom to walk with the Lord. The children of Israel could begin the new year with the fullest that the Lord had for them.
Fifty pastors and leaders gathered from literally every state in the nation of Haiti. They had committed themselves to mobilize prayer movements in their cities. In obedience to the vision we blew the shofar to open the summit. Great testimonies were presented of the power of prayer in their cities/regions over the past year.
Then the Lord brought a spirit of repentance to the pastors as they prepared themselves for the Lord’s plan for the coming battle.Suddenly there was a hush and the presence of the Lord came to the point that you could feel it on your arms. From that point things changed and the Haitians took the lead in the conference and began to work towards forming the next phase of the battle.
Picture yourself standing in front of these leaders watching the Lord move in them and through them. You are watching the fulfillment of all you have invested in them through prayer and support of the Gateway Center.
For years, you, as partners, have sown the Word in them and given them the vision to be a missionary people instead of a mission field. You have rejoiced with them in victories and mourned with them at the loss of their key leader. You prayed with them though the tragedies of hurricanes and a devastating earthquake. You have given them hope and fed them by giving direct aid when much of the international relief never reached their villages.
Ponder these things in your heart, savor the fruits of your ministry and praise the Lord for His faithfulness.
