Discipling God's People from Vision to Involvement

The Challenge for 2010
"Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes...” Isa 54: 2 –NIV

The celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ is a time of new beginnings.  It is more than just a symbol of beginning a new church year and when everyone makes a resolution to “try to do better.”  Christ came to bring a whole new covenant where the Holy Spirit would not be just on men for a time, but live in them.   The Holy Spirit would accomplish in people what they could not do in their own strength.  He would fulfill God’s purposes for them in His plan to redeem men from every tongue, tribe, people and nation.

When Mary heard the Lord’s plan she questioned out her natural understanding, ”How can this be?”

Her response was also one that changed everything.  “Let it be done unto me.”

The Lord has challenged us to make 2010 a year that the Holy Spirit will work in us in a whole new way.  In some ways, like Mary,  we look around and say, “How can these things come to pass?”

God gave the Christ child godly parents to mentor him. He spoke to kings who brought provisions for His early life.  God sent John the Baptist to prepare the people for Jesus’ ministry.  He brought twelve apostles for the Lord to mentor and complete the work empowered by the cross.

We look at the challenge to “expand our tent pegs, lengthen our chords, and strengthen our stakes.”  We are not holding back and are saying to the Lord,  “Be it done unto the Gateway Center as you have said.”

Like the Christ child, we need people who will be godly mentors,  people who will listen to the Lord and bring financial provision to carry out the work, and people who can go before us to share the vision of the ministry with those with whom they come in contact.

Is God speaking to you about joining us in some way?  Your response could change everything.
