Discipling God's People from Vision to Involvement

News from Haiti Prayer Conference

The Gateway Center for World Mission took a team of two intercessors along with Ken and Martha Shirkey to Haiti.  Over 45 pastors representing more than 100 churches from the four corners of the country and in between were given a three day seminar that presented tools of strategic intercessory prayer and pastor/intercessor relationships.  Pastors also had times of prayer with each other for themselves, their family, their churches and the nation.  Their testimony was that they had been equipped, restored, and more connected to each other.

God is always so gracious.  When He uses a person to touch another, both are changed.

The Lord put together a tremendous team.  Besides Ken and Martha, He brought Lesley Barker and Malou Fabious to use their gifts in a powerful way.  Lesley has been very strategic in intercession in St. Louis.  Malou is a Haitian born missionary serving in the Dominican Republic.  She worked with the Gateway team during her furlough in St. Louis two years ago.

We were all happy to see her again.  She  translated for the team as well as helped us interface with the hotel.  Malou learned as she translated and has already set up an intercessor team back in the DR.

Lesley told us that she had one of the best weeks of her life.  As the Lord used her gifts, she believed she was stepping into her destiny, at least in part.

God bonded the team and the participants in a way that we were truly able to walk as fellow sojourners.  Often the Lord would use the participants to encourage the team with their prayer, the word of God, and their testimonies of what the Lord was doing.

We praise the Lord that we came back refreshed in spirit even if we were tired in our physical bodies.  We had made new friends, seen God’s hand on us as we served Him, and were encouraged by the faith of our Haitian friends.
