Discipling God's People from Vision to Involvement

One Bag Full

Most of you have not come face to face with the power of Satan.  You all know that this power exists and you know that he tempts us, but here in the western world we have a more limited view of his power and scope.

The pastors in Haiti have many up close and personal encounters with evil and Satan.  Some have had bats attack and fly around in the church; others have had death threats.

When our team got to Haiti, Pastor J-P, told us that he was weary of fighting demonic voodoo.  He had learned that many voodoo prayers were said over him from all over the country of Haiti.  Traps had been set to lure him into places of death.  Two pastors in city of Les Ceyes had suddenly dropped dead.  He and his family left for a week with their family in Miami to seek some peace.

Upon returning, a dear man showed up at his door and told him that the Lord had sent him to Les Ceyes to pray for him.  Pastor J-P, fasted and prayed with him all night.  At the end of that time, the intercessor went up to a mountain alone to fast and pray for J-P.  He was gone three days.  While he was there, he saw that a fetish had been set up in the open field behind the ministry house, where J-P’s family lived.  J-P sent the intercessor to the field with his night watchman and a bag.  The Lord led them to a specific tree where they found a plastic bag nailed to a tree.

The bag contained a death warrant for J-P.  It said that he was to die in the month of September.  Also in the bag was a doll with a noose around its neck and its hands and feet tied.  There was an X-ray film, bottles of pills and some US and Haitian money.  On the death sentence was written a curse that J would die of a disease that no one could diagnose, no medicine would be able to help him and no amount of money would be able to save him.

J-P and the intercessor prayed, burned the contents of the bag, but saved the death certificate as a testimony to the Lord.  They burned the rest in the garden by an avocado tree that had just died (coincidentally?) with fruit still on the tree.  After that, they prayed and cleansed the area with bleach.

As J-P was showing Martha the tree, she began praying over the spot.  We all looked down and three very tiny shoots of new life had appeared.  We went to the rooftop and prayed and blessed the ministry house and J-P.  Ken, Stephen and J-P’s wife all took turns blowing the shofar over the property on all sides of the house.

We know well the verse “we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but with principalities in high places,”  but we sometimes do not really get that the fight is real and that enemy of our souls comes to kill, steal and destroy.

Remain vigilant.  The war is real!  You are part of the war to take Haiti for the Lord.  Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.
