Discipling God's People from Vision to Involvement
About The Gateway Center for World Mission
Biographies Ken was called into missions in 1985 while working in public service with the State of Maine. He became involved with the U.S. Center for World Mission, in Pasadena, California through a course called Perspectives on the World Christian Movement. Ken was gripped by the necessity of carrying the Gospel to those peoples without a church movement in their own culture. If the task was to be completed these people groups would have to have a high priority. He also realized it would be far more strategic to send hundreds of missionaries than to choose one field and go himself. Ken joined the U.S. Center for World Mission in 1989, and established the Gateway Area Office in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1991 to serve churches and mission agencies in the Central Midwest. After 12 years of working in churches to train congregations in mission and provide resources and opportunities for ministry to ureached peoples, the Lord expanded the ministry to work directly with missionaries and indigenous leaders. The Gateway Center for World Mission was formed to incorporate these new areas of ministry while still functioning in an affiliate relationship with the U.S. Center for World Mission to carry out church mobilization. Ken holds a B Div. in Mission from the Christian Outreach School of Ministry and was ordained as a missionary by the Christian Outreach Church in March 1990 and the Association of Evangelical Congregations and Ministries in 1993. He was ordained as a minister of the Gospel by Destiny Church St. Louis in 2005. Martha was born and raised in Indiana in a Christian home. She has known the Lord since she was a child. Most of her life has been spent pursuing a career in education as a public elementary school teacher and principal in Kentucky. She also raised three children, now grown and walking with the Lord. Martha and Ken met at a Christian family camp. She became interested in his ministry and joined his support and intercessory team in 1992. Since their marriage in July 2000, her continued interest in intercession has led her to develop the intercessory and ministry team for the Gateway Center. The Lord is using her counseling, administrative and people skill gifting to facilitate the church mission consultation and volunteer aspects of the ministry. Martha holds a BS and MA in Elementary Education, University of Evansville; Principal Certification and Rank I, Western Kentucky University; Superintendent Certification, University of Louisville and Xavier University. The Lord has used Martha's educational background in curriculum and instruction to develop much of the Gateway Center's mission training, including Living Out God's Destiny and the Gateway to the Nations Seminar. She is active in the Perspectives Study Program and has helped develop the training nationally for coordinators. Martha is available to facilitate cross-cultural communication training as well as mission education for children and adults. Martha has begun to partner with other ministries to lead prayerwalking seminars. |
